Vince’s Weight Training Tips

Guys & gals everywhere want to get muscles but few people truly understand proper weightlifting. There’d be ripped, muscular physiques flooding the streets if it were that easy. Although understanding proper weightlifting methods, it’s important to do the following:
1. Write down your long term goal, aswell as a realistic short term goal.
2. Commit to one program for 12 weeks.
3. Prior to beginning – get a proper education.
4. Get a trainer to demonstrate proper technique.
5. Focus on progressing gradually.
Vince’s 1st Weight Training Tip: Setting Goals
Its more difficult to live life yard by yard instead of inch by inch. Treat your goals with the same attitude. Don’t expect to be a ripped fitness model all over the cover of Men’s Health by next summer. Decide the amount of muscle you wish to gain in three months, six months and in one year. Visualise where you want to finish and work backwards. If your goal is 50 pounds of added muscle by the end of the year, than focus your efforts and planning on gaining 1 pound per week.
Vince’s 2nd Weight Training Tip: Commitment
A lack of committment is guaranteed failure. Research and find the ideal weight training program for your goals and current siuation. Study and fully understand the program before commencing. You need to fully understand every detail of the program, if you have trouble contact the author and remove any excuses that will allow you to misunderstand or perform the workout incorrectly. Once you’ve decided on a program, be responsible for your decision, follow through and commit right to the very end. Trying out a routine for a few weeks and saying “It’s not working for me…” and trying something else will just lead to disappointment. program hopping is a bad habit will develop a negative attitude, and ensure further failure.
Vince’s 3rd Weight Training Tip: Education
How educated are you on building muscle mass? Put simply, if you had to instruct another personon how to transform their phjysique in the next 12 weeks, do you think you could you help them? Do you think you could transform your own body in the next 12 weeks? If not, chances are you don’t understand enough about how your body works from a training, nutrition and recovery perspective. Research, buy a good book, visit a reputable website or see a trainer to get the information you need to fully understand how it all works.
Vince’s 4th Weight Training Tip: Proper Technique
Do you do your own taxes? Would you attempt to drill your own teeth? Or even repair your car? This is assuming you aren’t a professional qualified in automotive repairs, dentistry or accounting. The same applies with weight lifting, would you attempt to teach yourself proper weight training technique without the prior understanding? It boggles my mind why so many people out there sign up at their local gym and risk the health of their tendons, ligaments and joints with a lazy attitude of “I’ll figure it out myself,” or “I’ll get my friend to teach me” or “I’ll pick it up observing others.” Leave your ego at the door, don’t be cheap and invest in a reputable fitness trainer who’ll instruct you on proper weight training technique.
Vince’s 5th Weight Training Tip: Progression
Remember: “Inch-by-inch life is a sinch. Yard-by-yard life is hard.” Keep this attitude for every workout. You don’t need a 20 pound increase in benchpress in one week. Just visualise your bench press steadily increasing about 2.5-5 pounds every week for the next year. Do the math and that is a pretty impressive gain in strength! Just try to out-do yourself a little each week, week after week. An extra rep, an extra set, a extra 2 pounds or a even a shorter rest period. These small increments are steady, measurable signs of weight training progress.
Make weight lifting an easy more enjoyable experience by following these weight training tips and look forward to a rewarding and fruitful weightlifitng lifestyle.
